Date ideas for the Provo 123th YSA Ward

So... here's a list of dates that I have come up with that I consider are relatively cheap in essence, but
you can add things as your budget permits.

1 Treasure Hunt

    Plan:
         a) Choose a final destination. Maybe you already have this one in mind. You could choose your favorite secret place, your favorite restaurant, favorite piece of art, something else you prepared for it.
        b) Choose a big place like part of the campus, provo center, a park... and go beforehand and try to find things that you can use as a signal or sign (i.e. the only tree with a heart shape). Choose things that are not likely to move or change (i.e. the cloud with a heart shape). This clues are supposed to lead to your "treasure."
        c) While you are looking for this places, write down instructions or make a map of how to go from one place to another.

    During the date:

  • I would suggest you go along the other person to help him/her understand the instruction. This should be a time perfect for you to have a conversation.
  • Talk about why you chose to describe something in a certain way, maybe he/she would have done it in another way.
  • Find the treasure. Talk about why that thing is special for you, why you like it, why you made it... whatever the case is.

NOTE: Do not bring her to the temple on the first date and propose...

2 Be an artist

So I really think everyone can create a something cool. Doesn't matter if you are in accounting, biology, or yeah, an art major. The point of this date is... well... to have a date and get to know the other person.

    Plan:
     a)  Take a deep breath and look around your room. In there something you don't like what it looks like ? Is there something that you haven't worn in a few months because it looks old? If it is paper, fabric, plastic... you probably can do something else with it.

    b) Find color. Depending or your situation, you could find different things around your room. Look for markers, color pencils, crayons, paint, food coloring, anything that can be used as a medium to change the form or color of something else.

    c) Look at some other artists works. I'm pretty sure you can find something cool, kinda crazy on the internet. Maybe one of you is actually a pretty good artist and the other one... well, let's say they like to draw outside the lines...

Like look at this example of collaboration.

3 Create your own story

You could do cartoon strips-like stories, photo story, a dialog, a stop motion video, a book for kids. I have always wanted to do something like this
or this

4 Go DI Hunting

Well... this may sound very self explanatory...   one, you go to DI. Two, you find something you like.

  • Well, why not make it a double date, pair off and try to find presents for the other couple? I'm pretty sure trying to agree on what to give someone else can be hard.
  • Why not make a little competition? Try to find the cheapest but coolest thing in less that 5 min. You can make as many combinations of partnering... (is that the word?) to find the different thing. The looser... or the person who didn't win (maybe that doesn't sound that mean) has to wear the ugliest t-shirt or whatever the other group/person decides.
  • Or find children's books and read it to each other.

If I come up with some other cool ideas I might post them... :)

Happy dating everyone... except if you date the girl I like
 I'm kidding
